Support: Our Children's Stories
I
first came to PFLAG two years ago after coming out to my family for the first
time at the age of thirty. I wanted to check things out for my mother and
see if this was a good place for her to come to. I stayed and became involved
with PFLAG because I found that listening to the parents of other GLBT people
helped me to understand my own mother. I also found that telling my own story
made me feel better and I knew that by sharing my experiences I was helping
someone else's gay son or daughter. My mother never chose to come to a meeting;
she said she didn't feel that she needed to. But I know that being a part
of PFLAG has helped our relationship to grow, and I will always be thankful
to them for that.
